Fun, Studies & Routine

Studies seem so boring and honestly, you do not have any idea how to go about it, do you? Well everyone gets a bit tired after a lot of lessons and essays and tests and it’s okay to feel so!

Subjects can become very technical and for those out there who have an artistic bone, these sessions can become dry and boring. Honestly, there are no two ways about it but work smart.

Let’s try setting up a pretty basic schedule, now for this to work we need some information. So open a notepad (pen and paper does the trick too) and make a sketch of how your day goes by. If you do this correctly, you will probably end up not knowing what happens in certain hours of your life, or you will be confused about how to find time to sleep. Good! That means we now have something to work on.

Now for you people out there who have too much time on your hands, figure out how many hours in the morning or evening you are free. Now let’s figure out some other stuff. Write down the following; favourite subject(s), easy one(s), love-hate one(s), and the dreadful. Yep, a confident singular form of the verb there because we all have that 1 anomaly in our school life. At this stage, it’s all about how strong your resolve is. Start your studies with the love-hate one, jump to easy ones for balance and then take on the dreadful one to finish off with your favourite. It’s important to go to bed happy at the end of a productive day!

All the rest of you, I know it looks overwhelming at times, I felt so multiple times during my school days. But simple tweaks and you lot are all good to go. Prioritising stuff is good, but remember if you put all your activities as a priority then nothing is! Realising that studies are a constant in life for a couple of years is a start. Further, the same steps above will suffice to figure out how to set achievable study goals. This is important because when we take on too many tasks together, we lose focus and the chances of failure increase. Bite-size goals are how you find the rhythm.

Breaks are super important too! They have breaks in offices and schools for a reason. Start with 10mins for every hour and a half. If that’s too much try 5 min’s every hour.

Now for the online crowd, I got something for you! Check out https://betutelage.com/ . We are building a platform that will put your entire school activities in an app. You will be notified on upcoming lessons, tests, assignments and holidays. Once you start using the app, over a term you will receive feedbacks on marks, subjects and your overall activities in school. Bye bye surprise tests!

I didn’t derive methods from deep studies or browsing through books. I was a simple kid who found studies a bit of a drag, and these were simple hacks that I kinda picked and shaped over a few classes. Switch and try new stuff, but stick to it. A start can happen on an impulse, follow through is essential. Keep alarms, ask your pet to wake you up, or tell your mom once.
